1. All waves start on time. It is your responsibility to be in position and ready to go at each start time – swim, bike, run. The most up-to-date wave times are posted at http://www.3-fitness.com/triathlon/indoortriathlons.htm.
a. Waves will be posted the week prior to the race.
b. Please confirm your wave start time a day or two before the race to make sure you have the right time.
2. If you miss your wave start, you may begin but you must finish at the wave stop time. You are not allowed to make up the time.
3. If you miss your wave and a subsequent wave has started, you will not be allowed to continue/begin the race.
4. Know where to go next.
a. After the swim, go up the west stairs outside the transition to the spin bikes.
b. After the bike, go to the treadmills behind and to the left. These will be marked off by yellow caution tape.
c. Remember, you must start each event on time – if there is any question, ask a volunteer.
5. Give each scorer
your name. If you do not do this, you
may not get your results!
6. IF A BIKE OR TREADMILL SHOULD BREAK DOWN immediately notify the scorer, who will note your distance and the elapsed time.
a. If possible, move to a new piece of equipment and continue. We will average the two distances.
b. If this is not possible, we will take your distance + time and use it to average to the full 20 minutes (bike) or 15 minutes (run). This will be your official distance.
7. Transition
a. Transition will be in the Starfish room immediately off the pool. Pick a chair and set your T1 up.
b. You may optionally transition in the Family Changing Rooms, or the Men’s or Women’s locker room.
c. Do not leave valuables in the transition room. All valuables should be locked up in one of the locker rooms.
d. The RecPlex does not provide locks (or towels).
8. Swim Instructions
a. Two athletes per lane. Choose right or left side and swim straight down and back – not a circle.
b. Make sure your scorer knows your full name and whether you are left or right side.
c. Swim caps are optional and are not provided.
d. You may use any stroke; flip turns are allowed (but please try not to splash the scorers!)
9. Bike Instructions
a. To prevent possible injury, you should set a minimal resistance on the bikes. Do not “free spin” for 20 minutes.
b. Use the transition time to adjust the bike as needed. If you warm up, you must stop pedaling at least one minute before the start of your wave to reset the bike computers.
c. At the finish, stop spinning but stay on the bike until the scorer has recorded your official distance.
d. Please note your distance to give to the scorer in case the bike computer resets before the scorer gets to you.
10. Run Instructions
a. Start the treadmills by pressing the manual key, then set the speed using either the keypad or the up and down arrows.
b. Incline can be set if you wish.
c. At the finish, note your distance and press the Pause Key. Important – the treadmill will reset after 30 seconds so it is important you note your distance and give it to the scorer if they do not get to you within this time.
d. Please stay on the treadmill until the scorer has recorded your official distance.
e. After receiving your finishing medal, please pick up your goodie bag, t-shirt, and finishers medal at the Fitness Desk and enjoy the refreshments.
11. Post-Race
a. Please
remove all items from the transition area as soon as possible after you’ve
finished. All items must be cleared from
the room by 11:30.
b. Interim
results will be posted during the race but are not official until all athletes
have finished.
c. Final
results will be available approximately 11:45; awards and raffle will begin
shortly before noon.
d. The
official results will be posted at the RecPlex and online at www.3-fitness.com (click the Tri Results link)
by Sunday evening.
e. Results
will also be available on the RecPlex web site and Active.Com sometime on
Monday.
f. If
you are not present for awards (plaques and certificates), they may be picked
up later at the RecPlex Fitness Desk.
g. Raffle – you must be present to win.
12. Indoor Triathlon Championship
a. Current
standings will be available online at www.3-fitness.com
by mid-week.
