Full Season Training Plan

There are a lot of training plans on the web. What makes this one different? Well, it is tailored to YOU. It will be based upon your age, current level of fitness, and the races you plan on doing this season. It is not a "one size fits all" plan, or one for a 23-year old with 5% body fat who has 20 hours a week to train. Using the concept of periodization, and A-B-C priority races, we will plan out your training and racing schedule. For each week you will see what workouts you need to do for weight training, swimming, biking, and running.

The Full Training Plan Program includes:

  • Review of athlete training background
  • Review and discussion of seasonal race goals
  • Review of physical activity readiness questionnaire and athlete medical history
  • Prioritize race schedule
  • Calculation of athlete training zones based on multiple objective criteria
  • Discussion of swimming, biking, and running training zones, along with alternatives to heart rate monitoring
  • Full-Season training schedule, with hours per sport - See a general sample here
  • Specific swim, bike, and run workouts tied to schedule
  • Addtional triathlon skills handouts as needed
  • E-mail consultation with Coach Ken
  • Pre-race check-in with Coach Ken
  • Discount Card from Triathlon World in Kenosha

There is a one-time fee for the training plan. Please contact Coach Ken for specific pricing.

Online Weekly E-Coaching

With this service, your season training plan will constantly be evolving throughout the year. Again, it's not an off the shelf plan, but one tailored to you and your races. You will receive workouts in four week increments. Each four week workout plan will be based on how you've progressed in the previous weeks, and each will be adjusted for any individual deviations (for example, vacation, injury).

The Weekly E-Coaching Program includes:

  • Review of athlete training background
  • Review and discussion of seasonal race goals
  • Review of physical activity readiness questionnaire and athlete medical history
  • Prioritize race schedule
  • Calculation of athlete training zones based on multiple objective criteria
  • Discussion of swimming, biking, and running training zones, along with alternatives to heart rate monitoring
  • 4-week training schedule, with specific swim, bike, run,and brick workouts. See a general sample here
  • Updated next 4-week training schedule, based on how your training progressed during the prior 4-weeks
  • Addtional triathlon skills handouts as needed
  • E-mail consultation with Coach Ken
  • Pre-race check-in with Coach Ken

Pricing is by 4-week period, after the initial consultation and first 4-week plan. There are no contracts and you may continue or discontinue the service at your discretion. Please contact Coach Ken for specific pricing.

Triathlon World Discount Card

We are pleased to announce a special discount now available to 3-Fitness clients of our Full Season Training Plan or Online Weekly E-Coaching. All our 2008 clients will receive a discount card from Triathlon World in Kenosha.

The discount card provides 10% off the retail price on all goods except for bikes, which are 5% off retail price. The following conditions apply:

  • Cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotion or offer
  • Cannot be used on sale or clearance items
  • Cannot be used on services provided, shipping charges or sales tax
  • Cannot get cash back in lieu of discount
  • Must be used by current members only and must present card and photo ID at the time of purchase

How to Begin

After your initial consultation with Coach Ken, you will need to fill out four documents and return them to Coach Ken before a training schedule can be developed. They are:

Athlete Medical History Questionnaire - Particularly for Masters Athletes, we strongly recommend you discuss triathlon training with your doctor and get a medical approval before beginning.

Training Zone Calculation Data - Objective data for helping establish training zones based on maximum heart rate or lactate threshold.

Athlete Training Background and Race Plan - What races are you planning on doing? What race or races are the most important to you? In other words, what should your training peak you for?

USA Triathlon AWRL - Acknowledgement, Waiver, and Release from Liability
