Coach Ken Johnson offers the following schedule of triathlon training at the LakeView RecPlex, Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. The LakeView RecPlex is home to the 2009 Trek Women's Triathlon, 2008 Danskin Women's Triathlon, and the Pleasant Prairie Triathlon and Pleasant Prairie Junior Triathlon.
Training sessions are open to members and non-members of the LakeView RecPlex. For more information, contact 262-947-0437. All sessions are held at the RecPlex complex unless otherwise noted.

- Training plans and workouts individually tailored to your goals and strength/weaknesses. Includes a complete fitness assessment using MicroFit evaluation program, the benchmark fitness assessment system used in the fitness industry.

- Personalized season training plan, focused on preparing you for your goal races. Includes MicroFit evaluation, Lactate Threshold estimation and calculation of your individual training zones.
- A spin class for triathletes, or those considering signing up for a triathlon in 2008. This class will focus on specific cycling skill sets needed for optimal performance in the bike leg of Sprint and International distance triathlons. These include fixed interval sets, ladders, superspins, standing sprints, tempo sets, one-leg spinning drills, and recovery.
Classes will begin again in the Fall I Session.
- Learn and practice body positioning drills that will enable you to swim efficiently and come out of the water ready for the bike and run. Participants should bring Zoomer type fins to each session. Returning participants will do workouts to reinforce body positioning.
Classes will begin again in the Fall II Session.
- Keep your triathlon skills during the off season and increase your endurance base with this biking and running class. We'll start with a 45-60 minute bike workout, incorporating interval sets, ladders, superspins, tempo sets, one leg spinning drills, and recovery, followed by a individual distance run. This class is designed for both novice and experienced triathletes.
Classes will begin again in the Fall II Session.

Ladies - join the fastest growing segment of new triathletes, that of women. This 10 week course will prepare you for Trek Women's Triathlon held at the RecPlex on July 12, 2009. Even if you've never swum in a lake, ridden a bike more than a few miles, or even run a mile, we'll train your body and mind to complete the race with a smile on your face!
Participants will receive a detailed training plan, along with group lectures and workouts - including lake swims, rides on the bike course, and runs on the lake path. This class, as well as the Trek race, is open to all women ages 14 and up.

This 10 week course is designed for women who wish to improve their performance and time at the 2009 Trek Women's Triathlon. It will focus on technique, endurance, and speed work. Participants will receive a detailed training plan, along with group lectures and workouts on the race course. Prerequisite: you should have completed at least one Sprint-distance triathlon within the two years. New triathletes should sign up for the beginning level training class.

- Beginning Open Water Swim Clinic

This clinic will help beginner and intermediate swimmers to improve their triathlon open water swimming to prepare for the Trek, Danskin, Pleasant Prairie or other triathlon events.
Topics include open water swim equipment, beach swim starts, sight breathing to stay on course, and a description of the Trek, Danskin, and Pleasant Prairie triathlon swim courses, and transition area set-up.
You will practice your open water swimming in Lake Andrea individually then in a simulated triathlon group start. You will also learn treading water and other contingency strategies to use to help you complete the triathlon swim safely and confidently. Wetsuits are optional but encouraged.
Presented by Lauren Jensen, physical therapist and professional triathlete. Lauren has won over 50 triathlons including Danskin & Pleasant Prairie Triathlons; and Ken Johnson, USA Triathlon Certified Coach (Level I) and triathlete since 1987.

This clinic will help intermediate and advanced swimmers to improve their triathlon open water swimming to prepare for the Trek, Danskin, Pleasant Prairie or other triathlon events. In addition to the topics covered in the Beginner swim clinic, you will practice drafting, pacing and other more advanced open water swim techniques. You will practice your open water swimming in Lake Andrea. Wetsuits are optional but encouraged.
