Pleasant Prairie Triathlon Bike Course and Tips

Pleasant Prairie, WI, August 2008

Pleasant Prairie Bike Course

Sprint Course and second half of International Course:
Exit parking lot to Hwy 165
Left on Hwy 165
There are two "hills" right away -- actually, two overpasses.
Right on 72nd Ave to 108th St, turn left
Preschool at the corner of 165 and 72nd Ave.
Right on Green Bay Road
If riding the course before the race -- there are groves on the shoulder so ride to the right (outside). Careful crossing traffic to Springbrook
.
Left on Springbrook Rd
There is a nice gentle downhill on Springbrook as you approach and cross Hwy 165. This is a place you can pick up some real speed. You'll need some, because there is an uphill right before you get to 39th Ave.
Right on 39th Avenue
Left on 93rd St
Rough road here (particularly the last half), so be careful.
Left on Dabbs Farm Road
Left on Old Green Bay Road
Bit of an uphill right after you turn, and downhill as you approach 165.
Right on Hwy 165
Back to Prairie Springs Park
Remember those "hills" again. Actually, coming back they don't seem as bad. On the second one you can pick up some real speed on the downhill, but be in control.
Right into Park and back to the transition area.

Beginning the International Course:
Exit parking lot to Hwy 165
Right on Hwy 165
Go over Hwy 41 / I-94
If riding the course before the race -- 165 can have heavy traffic and the shoulder has rocks & glass. See below for an alternate route.
Left on 104th St to west frontage road
Right on 116th St
Road was resurfaced this year, so it is very smooth but there is no shoulder. Make sure not to go off the road.
Right on Hwy U
Left on Hwy CJ
Left on Hwy MB
Left on Hwy WG
Left on Hwy U
Right on 116th St
Right on Frontage Road
Left on 122nd St and over the interstate
Left on the east frontage road
If riding the course before the race -- be careful on this stretch around the Outlet stores. Heavy traffic. Consider using the alternate course below.
Right on Hwy 165
Continue to the Sprint Course (above)

Alternate International course:

If you are riding the course other than race day, there can be a lot of traffic and debris on Hwy 165 west of Prairie Springs Park. There is also traffic on the east frontage road around the outlet malls when the stores are open. There below is an alternate method of getting to the course west of the interstate.

Pleasant Prairie Triathlon Bike Course
Exit the park and turn left on 165
After the first overpass, turn right on Hwy H
Right on 122nd St / Hwy ML
Cross the interstate, right on the frontage road

You're now on the race course
Right on Hwy U
Left on Hwy CJ

Another option: turn east on ML off of 122nd street; when you cross Green Bay Road, you'll be on the Sprint course.
